We are already almost finished with the 1st six weeks of school. First grade is learning about beat and rhythm. Second grade is singing and moving. In third grade we have been practicing finding mi, re, do on our orff instruments. Fourth grade is learning which orff instruments are which. Preparing for the PTA program in October with singing and a cup game keeps fifth grade busy. Sixth grade is earnestly learning to play a rondo on the orff instruments. Hope to post videos soon!

Fourth Grade to the Orchestra!

Our fourth graders will be attending the Fort Worth Chamber Orchestra performing at Mesquite High School on Nov. 2nd or 3rd. The cost is $3. Get your permission slip and $3 to Mrs. Middleton by Thursday, Sept. 23rd.

Fifth graders are going to the Meyerson Symphony Center on Friday October 22nd to see "Little Red's Most Unusual Day." The cost is $5.50. Please get your money and permission slip turned in by Tuesday, September 14th.

First Grade - We're singing and learning how to play orff instruments. Keeping the beat and having fun is important.

Second Grade - Always singing and learning the names of our orff instruments, glockenspiels, xylophones, and metallophones. We like playing games with our songs.

Third Grade - Recorders! We love our new recorders! We're beginning with the note B, and then adding A and G!

Fourth Grade - Dingdongdiggidiggidong! A fun song that we are learning to play on the orff instruments. We compared the solfege ladder to the notes on our instruments to find the melody ourselves.

Fifth Grade - DRUMS!!!! We are learning to play the conga and djembe drums along with shakers to layer different rhythms.

Sixth Grade - We love to dance. We are preparing for the Sock Hop Celebration on the last day of school after graduation. We will also learn an African and a Greek dance for fun.

Fifth and Sixth grade classes are learning a song from the Sioux Native Americans called "Hosisipa." We work on singing, playing the recorder and the orff instruments as an accompaniment. Drums and sleigh bells will also be a part of our final performance.

Fourth Grade is working very hard on their PTA program on December 8th, "Snowmen at Christmas" by Caralyn Beuhner.
Third Grade is singing about a Great Big House!
Second Grade and First Grade are learning about Hanukkah.
